Denmark 'interesting' for home care giant

Home Instead, an American provider of home care for the elderly and the largest senior care franchise in the world, is eyeing the Danish market in expectation of strong growth in the private care sector within the next few years.

Head of the company's global franchising division, Bob Maguire, characterised Denmark is a 'very interesting market' where the demand for private elderly home care is expected to boom over the next three to five years as local social authorities cut the amount of home help the elderly are entitled to.

The number of over-80's will grow by 19 per cent over the next decade, leading to increased demand for more quality care at home from ageing 'greysters' armed with private pension funds and home equity making then richer than ever.
