Shipping and oil giant A. P. Moller-Maersk has suspended all oil tanker and freight deals with Iran to comply with EU sanctions which will embargo imports of oil from the country to union members.
CEO Henrik Ramskov of Maersk Tankers said as of January 24th, all carriage of any products of Iranian origin have been suspended to comply with the EU ban on oil imports and freeze on Iranian state assets.
Immediately after the embargo was imposed last month Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Danish ambassador to Tehran, as the representative of the Danish EU Presidency, to appeal the EU’s ‘illogical decision’.
