60,000 people in Denmark, 1.1% of the total population, are Turkish immigrants or their descendants, making them the largest group of non-Westerners in the country, followed by Iraqis.
New Statistics Denmark figures show that 10.4 per cent of the population are classified as immigrants, or descendants of immigrants, with a further 70,000 arriving last year, 1,000 more than 2010.
Immigration from non-Western countries dropped by 400 people in 2010, to 16,500.
Western countries have been the biggest 'supplier' of immigrants since 2003, especially Germany, Poland, and Norway - 32,000 last year, 1,600 up on the previous year.
